If You See It, It Will Come

When I'm not here being a spiritual giant, another part of my life involves my interest in business. Well, I'm here to tell you that the Law of Attraction is alive and well in all areas of my life - and I imagine that must be true for everyone.

A while back I made a few bad decisions about some real estate investments. I lost some money, which wouldn't have been the end of the world, if it hadn't been someone elses' money.

Well, the time's come to pay it back.

Rather than fretting, what I've learned with the Law of Attraction, is that my job is just to assume that the situation is resolved and that all parties are happy with the outcome. This requires far less action, stress and worry on my part (yes- I said action first).

Well, after a couple of days of visualizing my creditor (a friend) and me shaking hands, being happy in each other's company and having an all around good feeling, money and support started rolling in to help me pay this debt.

I've done this before (for my house, car, life partner, money and more), and will continue to live my life this way. The Universe puts me in a position to succeed, and will put you there, too!

Here's what I did:

• Envision my desired outcome (Kate is paid in full and we're both pleased and happy with each other and the situation).
• Envision associated situations that feel good (I'm doing work that I love - to participate in the flow of these good things. I'm also seeing money pouring into my postal mail box and my online banking/email inbox).
• If I catch myself fretting about any part of this, my job is to stop. Just stop. Change my thoughts. Take a new action if my thoughts won't change easily.
• Finally - do something that has nothing to do with forcing the outcome - especially if this entails having FUN!

(Did I remember to mention that Janis and I also cleaned out the garage today? We had fun, enjoyed our yard and each other's company. The garage looks great, we've cleared out old garbage, which is good for the energy, and when I came in to write everything went smoother afterward).

So the Law of Attraction is certainly alive and well - and I'll continue to find ways every day to use it. Life's full of adventures!

Why Relationship Advice

As promised, because I know you couldn't wait any longer (!) here are my magical thoughts on "why" and personal relationships.

Please note - these ideas work with ALL relationships: lovers, friends, co-workers, acquaintences, strangers on the subway, children and on and on.

A few days ago I began my rant on "why" suggesting that you not ask that question, to choose others instead.

Then, in an apparent reversal, thanks to the magic of Paradox, I said "ok, go ahead and use it".

So now I want to talk for a wee bit about one application that can be tricky: relationships.

It's tempting for many (myself included!) to go to the dark side and assume that others aren't giving me the credit I'm due, or that they're not thinking well of me.

First of all, I'd like to go on the record as saying that worrying about that particular issue is not only a particular waste of precious time, but none of my business to boot!

However, from time to time, the thinking will happen. Here's the fix: our amazing "w" word, "why".

Don't just ask any "why" question - "why didn't I get the raise?" or "I wonder why she looked at me crosseyed?" Craft your questions to yourself with more power - power to you!

Here are some sample questions you can use with yourself to bring your thinking to new heights in relationships with others:

"If my aim is to have a smooth relationship with (this person), why did I just do x? I can change my behavior now."

"I wasn't trying to start a fight! Why am I feeling edgy? I can take steps to do this differently now."

"Why do I find myself dissatisfied with my role here? So many things are working (make a list - mentally or on paper) well. I'll take the things I'd like to improve and work with x-person to make them better together, if x-person is interested."

I know these samples sound sort of simple - but let me tell you my dears - they work like little bunnies' feet. This is precisely what I do as soon as I can when I discover that my mind is racing down old and unwanted tracks.

When I ask "why" in simple form, I frequently lose. When I couple "why" questions with my ultimate goals in mind - I tap into great powers.

When Why Works

Yesterday when I was thinking about the use of the word "why" I was remembering the reasons not to use it. But that was the topic of yesterday's rant.

In honor of my beloved Paradox Formula, I was noodling when "why" is a good question to ponder.

Sure, it's dis-empowering to ask "why" when the question leads down the dark trails of fear and insecurity. But I've discovered a trick for using the question in another way - one that can effectively empower and enlighten.

I think one of the greatest marketing ploys of all time (and a fairly common rhinoceros in the living room) is that people just plain don't know what they want. In North America (the market I'm most familiar with - and I'm sure this translates around most of the world) people will buy almost anything to feel good. In fact, sometimes the further removed from any practical connection to a person's daily reality the better. Face it - we're feel good junkies.

Me? Sure. Guilty.

Here's where "why" fits in for good use. I've found that if I'm reading a sales page, seeing an ad, or have discovered some item that I can't live without, the best question I can ask myself is, "Why do I want that?"

Here's the rub: getting past "I don't know - 'cause I like it".

"Why" is a question that has quite a bit of power behind it. It is existential in nature and demands more, and more and more to satisfy (which is the reason that asking why a person doesn't like me gets me nowhere but sad).

However, when I ask, after reading a very compelling email about a new ebook that just came out that guarantees my 30-day success to achieve a new level of mastery in my life in stress-free living "Why do I want that" is a good question to ask.

The question demands that I know what I want ultimately.

I was on the phone with Sarah Meredith one day. Sarah is a contributor to Message of Spirit (a free ebook I offer at my web site SpiritualHealingSecrets.com) and was helping me with a few points at a particularly confusing time in my life.

Sarah lead me down a line of questioning that I use still today. Working with the concept of knowing what you want ultimately, Sarah asked me, "If you were totally broke, what's the worst thing that could happen?"

I thought for a moment and gave my answer, "Janis would leave me."

Sarah asked again, "And then what's the worst that could happen?"

"I'd be drunk and homeless."

We went on for a couple more rounds. Sarah's point became clear to me afterward: what is my ultimate point? After all, if I can envision the worst that could happen - how about the best that could happen?

Now I have a new way of looking at my "why". Why do I want those boots? Why do I want that job? Why did I offer to help that person when I really wanted just to go home?

It isn't bad to want to feel good. Feeling good is an indicator that we're on the right track.

So many people are going through life not making conscious decisions about where they want to be. My own grandmother is alone for the very first time in her long life and doesn't know what to do with herself.

"Why" would have been a good tool to learn a while back - it wouldn't hurt now, in fact.

Here's how to use "why" as a tool in achieving your ultimate life goals:

Ask "why do I want this" and listen for the answer. When I do this, and really listen, I remember that I have an ultimate goal to live my life conscious in all areas, and to live my life as a prayer.

It's so easy to get distracted by noise that's around us all the time. Sure - a valid answer is "I want this because it's fun", or "I want these boots because I feel happy wearing them". In my belief system, an invalid answer is "because this book will fix all my life's problems." That won't happen - so I don't have to buy the sales hype.

Don't Ask Why

"Why" is one of those tricky words.

If I ask "why don't you like me?" or "why am I ____________ (fill in the blank)", you've given away your power. Just by the way the question is phrased, the asker loses. It's a leading question.

Don't ask why.

Language is such a useful tool. With it we can identify thoughts and feelings, which (according to the Law of Attraction) are the building blocks of our life experience.

Change a thought. Change an action. Change a life.

I find language to be a beautiful art. It's like math, painting and philosophy, all rolled into this tool that takes a lifetime to get a grip on. With it we can build ourselves and others up, or, we can tear others (and ourselves) down.

The words you use will determine your life experience.

I read a great story recently, called A Rich Man's Secret: An Amazing Formula for Success, about a man who changed his words about himself and his life - and it made a huge difference. It's a quick read, and is a truly inspirational story - two of my favorite things!

Always remember, "why" is the weakest "w".

S/he who asks "why" loses.

Ask instead:

• "What" can I do right now to change _________ (fill in the blank).
• "When" will I start this new practice?
• "Where" do I want to go next?

If the next question is "why aren't I there yet?", you're derailed.

Don't do that.

Ask empowered and empowering questions!

Master Your Mind with Hypnotism

If I had to sum up the past few days in a couple of words, they'd be "master your mind" and "hypnotism". (Hence my clever post title).

To start with, I purchased a hypnosis program on success over the weekend. I'm obsessed with success and figured that hypnotism would be a good tool to use to overcome some hurdles I've been stuck on.

Well let me tell you about the floodgates opening!

I had an immediate positive reaction to the program. Not only was the program right in line with my thinking (as I mentioned in an earlier post, I was concerned that the language would lead me astray - didn't happen) but I had conscious and unconscious results within 24 hours of my first listen.

Here's what happened:

Conscious reaction #1- After the first listen to the program I had a burst of ideas, clarity, direction and motivation. I'm rarely short on any of these, but to have a burst of them all at once was noticeable.

Conscious reaction #2- My desire to watch television has  significantly decreased in the past 48 hours. I keep saying I want to watch less tv, but here I am doing it. If I'm in front of the tv, it's easier to decide to get up and get back to work. As a result, I'm writing more and putting more material together in the past two days than I've had the energy or direction to do in a while.

Unconscious reaction #1- Hypnotism activates both the conscious and unconscious parts of the mind. My picture of success for myself includes accepting apparent help and support from the Universe. In this way I envision spiritual connection coupled with conscious ambition to result in living the life I imagine and desire. So, when I ran into a friend today who started talking about the power of the mind (she's never talked like that to me before) - I take that as a sign that my hypnosis session energy is seeping out into other areas of my life - because everything and everyone is connected via energy.

Unconscious reaction #2- Part of my picture of success is that I achieve financial abundance. This is just as spiritual as any other ambition - spirit is energy, hypnotism is a way to guide energy, money is energy. So I've been picturing getting checks in the mail. Last time I did this I received $3052 unexpectedly. I thought that was pretty cool - so I thought I'd try it again. I've been visualizing checks in my post box, in my email box, my Paypal account. So, only 48 hours after my first hypnotism session, I received a check in the mail today. It was an offer for a loan - but it was a check I could have gone to cash. So I'm going to keep up the hypnotism sessions and the imagery of receiving checks. Life leaves clues - that check in the mail box today is a clue that I'm going in the right direction and that I cannot fail.

My lesson right now is "Master the mind with hypnotism" and I'm excited for more. It'll be fun to see what happens next.

Intuitive Scheduling

Terry, Rita, Tamara, Isadora and I are planning a vacation - a weekend gathering. We'd picked a date in September 2007 that, through some astrological miracle was free enough for all 5 of us to gather at a (somewhat) central location on Lake Michigan.

I'd found the perfect place - a three bedroom cottage on the lake, and only about an hour from Chicago, where most of us will fly in from our different corners of the country.

I'm in charge of booking the cottage. But for some reason The Voices told me not to rush. Each time I'd think "I have to book this cottage NOW", my intuitive connection would say "do something else".

This has been going on for 2 months. Enough already - right? I mean, at what point is this intuitive scheduling before it becomes procrastination?

Well, once again, The Voices were right. Rita just called to tell me the date we'd picked is not good after all. She has a family wedding that cannot be missed or moved. We'll have to pick another date.

Hmph. I listen to The Voices and I'm safe, every time.

This isn't the first time intuitive scheduling has come to my rescue. I've been double booked to be at meetings with clients 15 miles apart - not intentionally - and invariably one would call to reschedule, or cancel.

These types of events happen frequently enough for me to realize that I can trust The Voices. It's my own doubt that says "don't trust - you're being lazy".

Lesson: always do what feels right in the moment.

Hypnosis is not subliminal. There's no need to check out the script in advance. I heard every word clearly, and Roger Elliott (the voice on the program as well as the man behind the company) has a lovely, soothing voice.

After the first listen I was convinced that the script on the first program I chose, Desire to Succeed, will be an excellent program. And indeed it was - I felt an immediate burst of energy and focus on a particular project and went to work on it as soon as I completed the session.

The Secret of Paradox

"You'll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind." (Thanks to Edward Uken - for the great quote).

"Go into the silence daily at a stated time and concentrate on the substance of Spirit prepared for you from the foundation of the world. This opens up a current of thought that will bring prosperity into your affairs." (Charles Fillmore, Prosperity, 1936.)

The Secret has taken over. You can't surf the Internet without Google ads jumping out at you. My email inbox overfloweth with help clarifying the principles of The Secret.

The reason I placed those two quotes above is that I want to make one point perfectly clear: Both statements are true.

I use paradox frequently to assess if a thought or situation is true. If a statement makes sense, does the opposite make sense too? If so, the principle of paradox is working, and I find comfort in the balance.

Thoughts become things. So the field may not be plowed on thoughts alone, but the image the farmer holds of the completed task certainly helps get the job done!

Restraint Can Save a Relationship

So I'm sitting with friends over coffee one night a while back. We're talking about relationships (all kinds - friends, partners, lovers, families, co-workers). The conversation turns to working through troubles while having loving and peaceful relationships.

One person says, "But what about confrontation? I thought that in a good relationship you were supposed to confront and work through things, talk things out. That's messy right? But you have to do it!"

Well...

I agreed - it's good to talk things out. I believe in talking in a spirit of love though. Screaming matches, yelling and fighting to work things out - those are ego fests.

At least this is true in my house. (I am willing to admit that there are healthy homes and friendships that can grow while there's yelling and argument - I just can't name any).

Confrontation is sort of an iffy proposition. It means that something is wrong. Who gets to make that decision? So mom doesn't like what the kids are doing - who's wrong? (OK, OK - mom CAN keep the kids from getting hurt - stay with my logic here, all right?)

How many friends do you have who run on a different schedule than you do? This one's always early - that one is chronically late.

Who's wrong?

My best friend Terry puts it like this: if you come home and there are dishes in the sink, and this bothers you, you can do one of two things.

Number one: you can do them and shut up.

Number two: you can not do them and shut up.

I love this formula.

I've rarely confronted my way into good things in any relationship. Actually, I think "never" would be more accurate.

I don't get to decide who's wrong. I just get to act like the person I want to be. My actions are the most important thing to me. That way I get to decide if I'm right and I don't have to make anybody else wrong.

These principles have worked for me for a long time. Janis benefits from my shutting up. I benefit too.

In the end, actions really do speak louder than words.

Hijacking Followed by Kindness.

It's been my intention to communicate more. For a Gemini, in my offline life I really don't talk a whole lot (my astrologer friend said it was because of the Pluto return a number of years ago...)

For the purposes of my web site, this blog, and forums that I participate in, my intention is more communication.

So I spent the day yesterday putting my current newsletter together to email out today. Come to find out, somehow a link in the thing got hijacked and points to an adult site. (I didn't even know this was possible!)

The point of this sad, sad story is that a reader discovered this heinous crime and emailed me right away - allowing me to send a follow up to everyone and provide a new, clean link.

I test, retest and triple test my links. All problems of focus and distraction aside, by the time I hit "publish" or "send", my creation is usually pretty much the way I want it to look. So the hijackers got me somehow and because of the kindness of a good-hearted person (Noel, I'm grateful!) perhaps others were spared the surprise.

Noel could have clicked the link, gotten an eyefull and just clicked on "unsub". But generosity, kindness and love prevailed.

I believe most people are good. Taking time to help another human being is the stuff that really makes this human experience worthwhile (whether you're the giver or the givee)!

Spiritual take home message from this experience? If Noel hadn't come to my rescue, perhaps I'd have had a bitter taste about sending my newsletter, being vulnerable to attack, having such a public venue.

Instead, I've been given connection to another human being that is positive - I've made a friend. What an opportunity. What an adventure. What a life.
